Kathryn and Garrett by Rhys Logan

If ever a more true northwest pair of people existed, you'd be hard pressed to find them.  Industrial designer and tug boat operator, Kathryn and Garrett styled their wedding beautifully, naturally and nautically. It only made sense that hopping to an island would have to be where it all went down in what I believe to be one of the most beautiful areas of our state, Orcas Island.

Complete with sailboat getaway, flotilla party, fresh shucked oysters and some sizzlin dance moves, I was honored to capture their wedding and even later that summer take their boat for one last spin out to Cypress Island and right in between two tall ships, which I will have to post later,

Here's to the ocean, our very own awesome archipelago and making ferries on time..

Abe and Meg by Rhys Logan

Abe and Meg's wedding was, to say the very least, a whirlwind.

Arriving in Philly a few days prior I caught glimpses of a world unfamiliar me to; sights and sounds of the east coast.  Having seen more of the world than my own country, I had a blast exploring the home town of some of my best friends. We saw castles, forests, oddities, the graves of revolutionary spies, New Jersey and even where George Washington crossed the Delaware.  When you spend time with the people that matter most to you, often you're allowed the privilege of meeting their families. When that becomes a significant amount of time as well, the difference starts to fade, and pretty soon it all feels like family.

Abe and Meg have so many friends, and big families. The most beautiful place for all of us, is when we can start to blur the line between the two.

Weddings are the great chances we get to bring all of the ones we love together and leave as family.

And at the end of it, at the very least, two people have started their own.

So here's to finding your family, and here's to summer

Shooting in the Northwest always offers its own set of challenges.  I truly know and believe, that this really has only fostered a special type of attitude for people who hail from the good ole PNW, or have come to love it.

That attitude is one of, 'if you're not going to buck up and do it in the rain, you won't end up doing much here ever.'  Nothing ever rang truer for Irene and Garret's engagement shoot at Discovery Park in Seattle this spring.  Absolutely soaked to the bone, we adventured our way through the most beautiful greenery, soggiest  forest floor the windiest northwest beach and finally all the way to the awesome urban scapes of Ballard.  I couldn't be luckier to work with two people filled with more joy and energy than these two and can not wait to be part of their very special day coming up in August.

Here's to life and the rain, and here's to life in the rain, it only gives you the chance to show your true self.
