Every year, from July to October, Humpback whales frequent the calm, warm waters of the South Pacific near the tropical island of Tongatapu in the Kingdom of Tonga. These waters serve as nursery and playground for young whales to be born, reared and strengthen swimming skills before making the long journeys thousands of kilometers away to Antarctic waters and feeding grounds.
