Life in Maasailand, a vast area stretching from northern Tanzania to southern Kenya, is harsh. For Maasai women, the burdens of raising children, ensuring their survival and severe lack of access to education and opportunity can make it even harder. Despite a life expectancy of 45 years, much of which can be spent as property of another, child-bride arranged marriages and cultural barriers, many are seek the chance for change, and are taking it.
