Real Weddings; Adrienne & Johnny’s Winter Wedding at Roche Harbor
While the Pacific Northwest’s deep winter may not appear as the brightest of times to have your wedding, Adrienne and Johnny proved its just who and what you bring!
With their big day and big energy wedding party, they decided to go with fabulous Roche Harbor the day before New Year’s Eve. Class, tradition, nautical aesthetic, an amazing color palette and mother nature providing just enough of a break in the sky to lose the jackets and really go for it, their wedding and photos were some of our favorite so far.
With ample walking access and incredible micro locations of the docks, boardwalks, old church, waterfront and great seaside landscape, Roche Harbor affords a plethora of inspiration and availability, helping me gather an abundance of photos. The space also creates an advantage with things staying close and concise—not requiring any major delays due to distance or time challenges.
With rich indoor lighting, plenty of space for external lighting and a nautically classic appeal, the rain falling harder outside once the party moved inside, made the atmosphere even more cozy. A healthy glow of holiday cheer atmosphere, made for one wild reception and capping off what I dare say, was a perfect wedding.
While our home in the beautiful Northwest may leave some wanting for sunnier warmer days in the depths of winter, never overlook the opportunities and chances coming along to take advantage of the aesthetic and appeal of spaces built to be, well, cold and wet. It’s what we’re good at. And given the right energy, amazing people, joyful atmosphere and generous effort, nothing can go wrong.
I hope you enjoy the pictures as much as I enjoyed creating them, and thank you for looking, -Rhys
Right on the shores of San Juan Island, and just a short drive from Friday Harbor, Roche Harbor brings a classy historical feel reminiscent of the era of its construction; 1886. Originally a hotel and Lime factory built by Tacoma lawyer John S. McMiillin.
Adrienne braving the chill and looking stunning!
